With controlled, repetitive mark-making, I construct dense fields of lines and hatched strokes that accumulate into form. The process is slow and deliberate, but the resulting structures feel unstable—hovering between order and fragmentation. I use abstraction not as a retreat from representation, but as a way to test how little is needed for a form to hold. Shapes emerge, dissolve, and reconfigure, resisting any fixed reading. What remains is a tension between precision and collapse, control and drift. The drawings operate as systems rather than images. Geometric and organic elements coexist, often competing for dominance within the same space. Patterns repeat, interrupt, and overwrite each other, producing a sense of movement without narrative.

Across the Works on Paper 2017 series, a consistent visual logic develops—one that prioritises structure, rhythm, and variation over depiction. Without figurative anchors, the work stays open, but not passive; it asks the viewer to navigate it, to locate balance within instability, and to construct their own reading from within the field. The series comprises 117 works on paper, divided into two wall installations. The first installation consists of 45 framed works installed on a blue background, and the second comprises 72 framed works installed on a red background.
